There may be a need to change, update, add, or delete an existing form (Commonly known as corrections or revisions). Or perhaps, you have questions from individuals that you need assistance or context on. Using the submission form here, you can submit a revision or correction request. The following article outlines what is needed for each type of request, details are provided on each of the fields in the submission process, and what to expect when submitting a request.
Please note: When submitting data for corrections or revisions, TaxBit is focused on ensuring we have what we need, not deciding if the request is valid or not. It’s important that these requests are submitted with accurate and complete information.
Ticket Overview
Organization Name: Name of organization submitting request. Please include additional, clarifying information such as tenants or partners (Example: Organization - Tenant).
Requestor Name: Name of person submitting form from organization.
Form Type(s): Form(s) that is either affected by an issue, requiring an update, or requiring a new form(s). Available options include:
- 1099-B
- 1099-MISC
- 1099- INT
- 1099-DIV
- 1099-NEC
- 1042-S
- 1099-R
- Gain/Loss Statement
- Transaction Summary
Type of Request: Reason for ticketed inquiry. Any time a request is submitted, only one of these options can be selected. If you have more than one type of request, please submit multiple tickets.
Please note: If updated data is being delivered to TaxBit to accompany one of these requests, you can include the data as an attachment on one ticket along with the original ticket number to refer to when you submit additional requests.
Available options include:
- Request for Data CSV Template: Request to retrieve the specific CSV template for the type of data you are providing
- Request for New Form(s): Request to create a new form(s).
- Request for Update to Existing Form(s): Request to make a revision to a form(s).
- Request to Delete a Form(s): Request to delete form(s).
- General Tax Season Inquiry/Customer Questions: Issues with transactional data or calculations within a form(s). Or, general questions around tax treatment and rules.

Do form(s) in this request need to be mailed: The client will usually indicate in the form or file if forms need to be mailed to users. If a partial amount of forms need to be mailed please provide a list of External IDs or User UUIDs in the description.
Description: Include as much detail as possible regarding your issue/request here.
Attachments: Here is where you can upload any files that include updated user data, transaction data, User ID/TaxBit UUID lists or additional information related to the revision request.

Request for Data CSV Template
Generally speaking, requests for revisions or corrections would be accompanied by the data being submitted in the original ingestion method. However, clients do have the option to provide their updated data in CSV format. This can include CSV, JSONL, or API depending on your initial implementation. You can reach out with the option “Unsure - Need more information” if you have any questions about the options available to you.

Important note:
Pre E-File: You have the option to update customer PII data (Tin, Name, or Address change) in the event that the customer reaches out with updated information.
Post E-File: You are not obligated to update a 1099 for a PII change (Name, TIN or Address). A filer of 1099's is allowed to rely on the information provided by the customer for purposes of 1099 filing. In the event that a customer does not provide updated information within that tax calendar year, there is no obligation to provide a corrected Form 1099.

Updated Data Submission
When submitting new user, transaction, or aggregate data, requests for revisions or corrections would be accompanied by the data being submitted in the original ingestion method. However, clients do have the option to provide their updated data in CSV format. This can include CSV, JSONL, or API depending on your initial implementation. If you are providing a file with this data, the request submission form has a file upload field (powered by SendSafely for secure file delivery).
There are three methods that TaxBit has accepted data for generating forms. Each of those will have different expectations for delivery.
- API
- Please deliver the updated data via API before submitting your ticket.
- Please include an attachment with a CSV that includes all of the TaxBit UUIDs (or the user IDs if the TaxBit UUID is not available) for each of the updated users.
- CSV
- Please include as an attachment on the request submission field.
- You can use the request type “Request for Data CSV Template” to reach out to our team for the specific header format needed to request a correction or revision with this format..
- JSONL
- Please include as an attachment on the request submission field.
What to Expect Once a Ticket Has Been Submitted
TaxBit will confirm the receipt of your submission within 1 day of receiving the request. In some cases, we may have to reply with a request for additional information. Typically, requests will be delivered by the end of the following week (i.e. 5 - 10 business days after receiving the request).
So for example, if you submit a request on Wednesday, and all of the necessary information is provided, you would see the correction or revision delivered by Friday the following week.
FAQ
Can I submit a request for more than one type at a time?
While you’ll need to submit separate tickets to identify these requests, if new data needs to be provided that can be submitted all at once.
What are the filing deadlines?
The most important date to be aware of, is the federal e-filing deadline on 03/31. Updates delivered by TaxBit before this date will be processed as a revision, and updates delivered after this date will be processed as a correction.
