Available for only non–US filing (MRDP, DAC7, CARF/CRS), rescinding a filing reverses an approved filing that has not yet been submitted to any tax authority, so you can make updates and generate a new filing for the same period and scope. It is performed per jurisdiction (e.g., Canada, Ireland) and applies to the latest filing entry for that jurisdiction. Once rescinded, the previous filing’s history is marked as rescinded, and the affected jurisdiction becomes available again to generate a fresh XML/CSV and re-approve.
Please note: Rescinding a filing does not apply to US Information Reporting, like Forms 1099/1042-S. Once approved, those are submitted by Taxbit. Updates would require a correction or a void form to be generated. For more information on this, please refer to this guide: How to Update Form Data
Please confirm the following before rescinding:
- The filing has not been submitted to the jurisdiction (e.g., you have not uploaded the XML to the authority). Rescind is only for filings that were not and should not be filed.
- You intend to update data or regenerate the XML/CSV for the affected jurisdiction(s).
- You are rescinding the most recent filing for the jurisdiction; only the latest filing can be rescinded.
Please note: Rescind only when the filing was created in the Dashboard but will NOT be submitted to authorities, and you need to re-generate a correct filing instead. If a filing was already submitted, follow the correction/void processes.
How to Rescind a Filing
Step 1: From the Filing page, select the Member State for which you need to rescind forms.
Step 2: To the right of the Approval, select the “Rescind Filing” arrow. Once you select this button, you will see the following message:
“By clicking the Rescind button below, you are confirming that this filing was NOT successfully submitted to tax authorities. You acknowledge that certain information included on any forms generated after this filing was previously approved may be incorrect, and should be reviewed before approving a subsequent filing.”
Please note: While rescinding is in progress, the Dashboard blocks additional filings for that jurisdiction; you’ll see a notification once complete.
Once rescinded, the filing’s historical entry is updated to show it was rescinded, and the affected jurisdiction becomes available again for a new XML/CSV and subsequent approval. If you made data changes, you will need to regenerate forms/XML and re-approve the filing for the associated jurisdiction when ready.
